The Spokane River Forum and Spokane Riverkeeper are making volunteering for the river easy and fun!!

Signup at our new volunteer page to act on your commitment to do something great for the Spokane River and your community. The volunteer page allows you to either sign up for an event, or contact us to create a date that meets your group’s specific needs. This is a great way for schools, churches and businesses to get involved.

“Using volunteers to support river cleanup and restoration is something both our organizations are passionate about,” said Andy Dunau, Executive Director of the Forum. “We’re starting with promoting Riverkeeper dates to put a river cleanup raft out on the water regularly. By the end of the month the Forum will be adding additional dates to help with planting and watering.”

Riverkeeper and Forum collaborative efforts started this year with putting Visit Spokane and Beth Shalom volunteers on river projects. Click here to read about these projects.

“You watch,” said Spokane Riverkeeper Jerry White, “this effort is going to really take off because people want to get out there and make a contribution. To meet that demand, our organizations have spent a lot of time organizing projects to put people’s efforts to good use.”

On another positive note, the annual Spokane River Cleanup event in September is coming back!! Lands Council, Friends of the Falls, Spokane Riverkeeper, Spokane River Forum, REI, Greenstone Homes, the City of Spokane and others are meeting and planning. Stay tuned!! The date for this big one day event will be announced soon.
