American Water Resources Association conference on rural water supply April 9th

On April 9th the Washington Section of the American Water Resources Association will present a one-half day conference on Rural Water Supply in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. The Idaho section of the American Water Resources Association is supporting this event. The event will be held at the Spokane County Water Reclamation Facility, 1004 N. Freya in Spokane. It will run from 8:00 am until 1:30 pm. Coffee and pastries will be available before the presentations (at 8:00 am) and a box lunch will be provided for all attendees. Following lunch there will be a tour of the Water Reclamation Facility for those interested.

The conference will cover a range of topics including the regulatory framework for “exempt” wells often used for rural water supply, what happens when too many exempt wells draw on a limited supply, mitigation of water withdrawals, the results of future demand studies in both Spokane and Kootenai Counties, and the status of the Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer Adjudication in Northern Idaho.

Registration is $25 for members of the Washington or Idaho state sections and $35 for non-members. A limited number of students, graduate or undergraduate will be admitted free of charge. Registration can be done on the Washington State Section website, waawra.org, or at the door. If you plan to sign up at the door, notify Stan Miller via email at: samillerh2o @ comcast.net by April 7 so we can get a count for lunch. Students wishing to attend should also contact Mr. Miller to insure a seat at the conference.
