River flows drop rapidly in response to drought conditions

Over the weekend, Avista reduced flows from Post Falls Dam. River flows at the Spokane gage below downtown went from about 3,000 cfs to 1,300 cfs. “Typically,” said Forum Director Andy Dunau, “the river is flowing at about 15,000 cfs this time of year.” The impacts to outdoor recreation, fish, the aquifer and so on are very real.
