Stormwater and erosion of soils can complicate life for everyone. If left unmanaged, they threaten water quality, health and safety of the public, and the economy. Pollutants carried by eroded soils and water (sediment) can contaminate drinking and surface water resources, destroy fish habitat, make recreational surface waters undesirable, and in large amounts, can destroy homes and endanger lives.

At the request of local industry professionals, a committee was formed to evaluate and eventually implement a Panhandle Stormwater and Erosion Education Program (Panhandle SEEP) in the five North Idaho counties. Panhandle SEEP is available to anyone in the construction industry and related disciplines who wants to improve their skills, understanding, and marketability in the stormwater and erosion control field. Participants in SEEP courses have the option to take a voluntary exam for certification.
