Paid Stipend Opportunity: Washington State Parks Wants YOU!
Are you interested in water safety and earning money over the weekends? Washington State Parks and Recreation is funding a study led by an organization called JSI, which will monitor life jacket wear rates across the state. They are looking for individuals who are interested in supporting the study’s observation efforts during the 2025 summer season.
Within this study JSI will oversee Life Jacket Wear Rate observations across 32 sites within the state of Washington. Any individual who is interested in conducting observations within this study will be eligible for a stipend of $75 per 90 minute completed observation period. This amount is expected to cover time spent (completion of training and observations) as well as reimbursement for travel, and meal expenses. The training required for each individual to complete prior to gaining approval to conduct observations is approximately 45 minutes in length and requires a submission of a passing quiz grade upon completion of the training program.
Observations are done in pairs to ensure accurate data collection efforts. The JSI team is looking to assemble 8 observer teams (consisting of 2 individuals per team) to complete a minimum of 8 observations per team. They are still actively recruiting 3 observation teams to conduct observations in the Eastern region of Washington State and 1 observation team to conduct observations in the Northwestern region of Washington State.
If you are interested in participating in this study, please email Ashley Robertson: ashley.robertson@jsi.org.
