U.S. District Judge Barbara Rothstein ordered EPA to “work with Ecology to create a definite schedule with concrete goals, including: clear statements on how the [Spokane River Toxics] Task Force will assist in creating a PCB TMDL in the Spokane River by reducing scientific uncertainty; quantifiable metrics to measure progress toward this goal; regular checkpoints at which Ecology and the EPA will evaluate progress; a reasonable end date, at which time Ecology will finalize and submit the TMDL for the EPA’s approval or disapproval; and firm commitments to reducing PCB production from known sources in the interim.”

The International Fly Fishing Film Festival coming to the Bing Crosby Theater on March 25 will be a benefit for a boat access site on the Spokane River. Rich Landers Spokesman Review blog post gives you great sneak preview of the films.
A half day conference on April 9th at the Spokane County Water Resources Center will focus on rural water supply issues. Free admission for graduate and under graduate students available for those interested in pursuing a water resources career.
Join Taylor McCroskey at the International Fly Fishing Film Festival on March 25th to support meeting red band trout needs in the Spokane River. Taylor, a fisheries management graduate student at EWU, used funds from last year’s event to work on a way to monitor the success of a redband trout enhancement project that will be implemented this summer.
