2020 Ode for Spokane River Clean Up and Call for Volunteers
Summertime, and the livin’ is easy
COVID’S recedin’ and the sun is high
But the trash by the river ain’t good-lookin
So get up, get out friends so our river don’t cry
(A river riff of George Gershwin’s tune)
The Spokane River Forum is pleased to announce Get Up, Get Out for Spokane River Clean Up!
Go to www.spokaneriver.net/getupgetout to sign-up.
On the site, you’ll find three clean up options to choose from:
* Pick from 1 of 5 public clean up dates that are open to all and start July 11th
* Schedule a private clean up date for your group, e.g.-school, church, or business
* Organize a Do It Yourself (DIY) clean up
Done in partnership with Spokane Riverkeeper, Get Up Get Out is custom designed to meet river clean up needs, conform with social distancing requirements, and give you some outdoor joy after a very cooped up spring. For any option, we’ll provide supplies and the level of logistical assistance needed.
“Various groups have done a great job making river cleanup a key part of our community’s culture of stewardship,” said Forum Executive Director Andy Dunau. “In 2019 we calculated volunteers cleaned up over 30,000 lbs. of trash.”
Get Up, Get Out is a new way of doing things to protect river cleanup progress during these challenging
times. Sign-up now!
