Additional Water Trail Parking at Spokane City Wastewater Treatment Plant
Big thanks to the City of Spokane’s Riverside Park Water Reclamation Facility leadership for designating additional parking at the Aubrey White Parkway, aka—treatment plant, water trail access. There is now a signed, dedicated parking lane for river access across from the treatment plant office entry. This summer, there’s an Eagle Scout project to build and place an information kiosk.
With the popularity of paddling, tubing, angling and rafting continuing to increase through the Great Gorge, this has become a critical river access point because it’s the last place for people to get out before heading into the bowl and pitcher rapids.
The Forum partnered with the city, Innovia (formerly the Community Foundation), Spokane Conservation District and others in 2016 to restore and improve access at this location.
