The Spokane River Forum’s President, Jeanna Hofmeister, celebrated Arbor Day and kicked off the Mayor’s “Spokane Gives” campaign along with twenty two of her Visit Spokane co-workers. Coordinated by Spokane Riverkeeper, Jerry White as part of the city’s urban forestry program, volunteers planted nearly 500 Ponderosa Pine seedlings along the river banks in People’s Park.
In the afternoon, Visit Spokane’s team headed to the Spokane Valley where the crew cleaned up mile 10-11 in Mirabeau Point Park on their adopted mile of the Centennial Trail. This included clean-up of trash and litter all the way down to the river’s banks and around our beautiful put-in at Mirabeau.
