Spokane River Water Trail Signs Installed at Harvard Road, Mirabeau and Barker Road
Spokane River Water Trail signs were installed at Harvard Road, Mirabeau and Barker Road as part of Upriver Scrub clean-up day on September 28th. Click here to see PDF of sign. Thank you to Northwest Whitewater Association for helping with installation.
Developing the signs was a collaborative effort among river stakeholders. In addition to the “you are here” icon, a QR code takes those with a smart phone directly to the Spokane River Water Trail web page with access and other river information. The signs also provide valuable information about safety, stewardship, keeping the river/aquifer system clean, and fish advisory. This fall, a kiosk and sign will be installed as part of developing the State Line access project. Over time, the Forum is fund raising to put signs at all Spokane River Water Trail locations.
Said Andy Dunau, Executive Director of the Forum, “If you want people to take care of the river, they need to be able to enjoy it. Part of that is welcoming them to well-maintained water trail locations with the information they need to have a safe and enjoyable experience, one that nurtures both them and the environment.”
A big thank you to the sponsors who made development, manufacturing and installation possible.
