Post Falls Mayor Objects to Lake Management Plan
Post Falls mayor Clay Larking sent the e-mail below to Kootenai County commissioners objecting to the Spokane River not being included in the Lake Managment Plan.
Gentlemen, with regards to the Lake Management Plan, the City of Post Falls objects to the exclusion of the Spokane River from the Plan. As we are all aware, the actions taken by ANYONE upstream directly impact the River, and we all know where the river flows, through Post Falls, and into Wash. In the plan from the mid 90’s, the River was at least mentioned. This City has worked very hard to keep the integrity of water quality and quantity at the forefront. We urge you to have the River put back into the Plan with a recommendations for remediation, suggestions/actions/monitoring for unwanted materials, solid and liquid that will adversely impact the river. We ask that all funding options be placed on hold until the River is included in the LMP.
