General Information

Depending on the type of fire extinguisher, it may be able to be recharged.  Check the pressure gauge. It should say whether it’s overcharged, at the correct pressure or needs a recharge.  Some extinguishers are single use only. The most common type is the dry chemical extinguisher. This type sprays the fire with chemicals, which deprive the fire of oxygen and puts it out. This is the type found in most kitchens.
