Disposal of unused, unwanted and expired medications
A pharmaceutical drug take back box is located in the Spokane Valley Police Precinct lobby. Read their informational here.
Accepted Items Include:
- Prescription Pills
- Narcotics
- Over-the-Counter medications such as Aspirin
- Vitamins
- Medications for Pets
ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED:
- Needles/Syringes
- Thermometers
- Inhalers
- IV bags or bloody infectious waste
- Personal Care Products
- Aerosol Cans
- EpiPens
- Glass or Metals
- Hydrogen Peroxide or other chemicals
- Any mercury or iodine products

1. Gather all unwanted medication from drawers, medicine cabinets, etc. Leave items in their original containers. If you wish, you may use a black marker to cover your name on prescription bottles. Do NOT cover the name of the medication.
2. Check the list above to make sure that you are only disposing of items that are accepted.
3. Bring accepted items to the Spokane Valley Police Precinct, located at 12710 E. Sprague Ave. Your items will be quickly screened to make sure they don’t include items that cannot be accepted. No questions will be asked, and personal information will NOT be collected.
4. Place the items into the secure locked box provided. Items will be kept in a secure facility, and the containers will be destroyed along with the medications.
