Paint Can, Empty

Empty paint cans can be disposed in regular trash as long as there is no wet paint in the can.

If there is less than 1 inch of liquid paint in the can and the paint is unusable, remove lid and place can with 1 inch or less of liquid paint in well-ventilated area (preferably outside and safe from children and animals). After contents have dried completely, the paint can and solidified contents may be placed in the trash.
