Spill/Spill Control

Material that spills, leaks, or drips is waste unless it is reused - clean up waste spills, drips, and leaks promptly so they don’t spread. Containment and storage areas must be kept dry and clean.

Keep spill cleanup supplies handy and train employees to use them. Know whether clean up residues and sorbent pads must be handled as dangerous wastes. For smaller spills, using absorbent granules (kitty litter), absorbent pads, or other absorbent materials may create less dangerous waste than using water.
