General Information
Neon lights come in bulbs and tubes. They are gas discharged and contain neon, krypton, and argon gases, in addition to mercury. They classify as hazardous waste. Businesses can choose to manage neon lights as Universal Waste. This allows for easier management of this waste, but Universal Waste Rules must be followed. To learn more, consult The Department of Ecology's "Universal Waste Rule for Lamps."
