General Information
Ultraviolet lamps are used in tanning salons, plant nurseries, and in ultraviolet (UV) disinfection systems, such as in some water purifiers. They classify as hazardous waste. Businesses can choose to manage ultraviolet lights as Universal Waste. This allows for easier management of this waste, but Universal Waste Rules must be followed. To learn more, consult The Department of Ecology's "Universal Waste Rule for Lamps."
