General Information

Gel Batteries are a version of lead acid batteries. They do not tend to sulfate or degrade as easily. As a result, there is little chance of a hydrogen gas explosion, or corrosion of electrical components and wiring in close proximity when using these batteries. In most cases AGM batteries will give longer life span and greater life cycle. Gel cells are commonly used to power industrial equipment, emergency lighting, video cameras, ATV's, power tools, wheelchairs, clocks, metal detectors and alarm systems. The same recycling process applies as with automotive batteries. An automotive store or a local waste agency may accept the batteries for recycling.  If you have any questions regarding what can be recycled call the Recycle Hotline, 509-477-6800
