General Information

Oil-based paints include alkyd enamel, epoxy enamel, varnish, other paint whose spills must be cleaned up with a solvent based thinner.

For less than 1 inch of liquid paint:  Remove the lid and place the paint can in a well-ventilated area, preferably outside and safe from children, animals and away from flames or sparks. After contents have dried completely and the paint is solidified, the can and contents may be placed in the trash.

If you have more than the small amount described above, give it away or drop off left over oil-based paint, free of charge, at a Transfer Station's Household Hazardous Waste site.
