Hazardous household waste is accepted on 7 days a week, except on major holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas).

Winter Hours (November 1 through March 31):
7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday
8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday - Sunday

Seasonal Hours (April 1 through October 31): 
7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday
8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday - Sunday

Household Hazardous Wastes are any products that may be labeled "danger", "warning", or "caution". Recent updates to the HHW program at the Spokane County transfer stations:

• No commercial material
• No unidentified material
• No compromised or leaking containers
• Personnel will no longer be pouring flammable material, which means you will not receive your container back
• There will be a 5 gallon limit for individual HHW material types per day
• There will be a total limit of 15 gallons combined HHW material per day

Accepted materials:

• Automotive products (oil, antifreeze, gasoline, etc)
• Batteries (automotive and household)
• CFL and fluorescent light bulbs (limit 10)
• Cleaning products
• Herbicides, pesticides
• Needles/syringes/sharps
• Acrylic, oil or lead based paints
• Propane tanks (full or half empty, 5lbs or smaller)
• Solvents
• Thermostats or thermometers that contain mercury
• Small arms ammunition (no explosives)

Business Hazardous Waste: Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generators (CESQG) - FEES APPLY:
Drop off locations for CESQGs are by appointment ONLY on Saturdays and Sundays.

• Appointment times are 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
• Call 1-509-202-7397 to schedule a Drop-Off Appointment.
• COD Only: Credit Card and check Only.
• You must be an exempt hazardous waste generator per all applicable regulations.
• CESQG businesses may from outside of Spokane County are allowed to participate.

Some examples of acceptable CESQG:

• Paints, Adhesives, and Solvents
• Corrosive Liquids (Acids & Alkalines)
• Fluorescent Light Tubes (Whole)
• PCB Light Ballasts/Capacitors
• Mercury (Amalgam, Thermometers, Thermostats) < 2.2 lbs.
• Aerosols (Propane, Spray Paint, Cleaners, etc.)
• Antifreeze and Machine Coolant
• Batteries (Lead Acid, Mercury, NiCad, Lithium)
• Fuels (Gasoline, Oil, Diesel)
• Photo Chemicals (Fixer, Developer)
